Back then, i still wondering how to capture milky way, galaxy that contain our solar system. After many trials and errors now i know the right technique how to capture milky way. FYI, milky way can be seen by eye but, it only looks like a thin dust. So we need long exposure technique to make it visible.
All you need to photograph milky way is,
Place with low light pollution
Clear sky (Also avoid moonbeam)
Camera with long exposure feature (Bigger sensor better)
Wide angle lens
Stargazing apps (Guide us to find the milky way, available on App Store or Play Store)
Bring flashlight (It will be very dark, also useful for creative composition)
Better to bring friends (Keeps you safe)
After you’re well prepared, go find the right place. It will be better if you put a foreground on your composition. About the camera setting. Set it to manual, set the shutter speed to 30 second, more than 30s will blur the milky way. Crank up the ISO from 800 to 3200, don’t worry about the noise. Use the widest aperture, such as f/2.8. Don’t forget to set the image quality to RAW, to make it easier and better for post processing.
Aim your camera to the milky way, then shoot on timer mode, to reduce camera shake. You can try the another exposure or composition until you reach the best result.
Have a nice try… welcome to astrophotography.
Here’s my another works:
Coconut and Milky Way. Gorontalo, Indonesia.
I photographed this at my dad’s office. Bea Cukai Gorontalo.
At that time i hiked Cumbri Hill to take sunrise picture. Fortunately i found milky way too. There my friend pointing his hiking flashlight to make it more dramatic.
Yup, i fell in love with photography since i was first grade on high school. And i want to share my experience in photography… especially for wildlife and outdoor photography. ‘coz it’s my favourite genre.
About my gear, i use Nikon D7100, and many Tamron lenses… as you know, Tamron is a best starter lens for budget photographer hahaha. But it’s not about how well the gear you own, it’s about how well you understand your gear 😀
Long time no see buddy… I’ll continue my Toy Review rubric, and that is Kotobukiya ArtFX Halo 3 Master Chief.
This statue comes with a nice stand base (Rocky ground with Brutes’ armor debris), and three optional hand (Bare hand, with magnum pistol, and the other grabbing Covenant’s LARP A.K.A. energy sword). The things that makes this figure looks so cool is the detailed Mjolnir armor, running pose, and dirty effects.
Although this figure is made from PVC, not a polystone like the other expensive statue, but Kotobukiya still give this figure a good quality.
At last. This figure is highly recommended for avid Halo fans…
